International Virtual Quidditch Games

If you did not get your hovering broom in advance, you might find yourself in a bind. Every time a virus breaks out the beginning of a new Virtual Quidditch Tournament is announced, curtsey of J.K. Rowling. Although floating brooms are created well in advance and then updated constantly, it’s hard to predict a pandemic coming and the manufacturing of the latest brooms is always a bit last minute.

If you managed to snag a new broom on time, congratulations!! But if you didn’t, remember skill is just as important as new tech, if not more.

The Virtual Quidditch Games is one of many solutions humanity has found to pass the time together in good spirits while being physically isolated. It is perhaps my favorite of virus events. I almost look forward to it, though of course, I would never wish upon us another deadly virus.  It’s nice to have a silver lining or a silver hover broom soaring through your living room, making popcorn for you right when you need it the most.

Our team, The Galactic Newsies, has been practicing for two years now, and we are ready to give the other teams a run for their money. Well, without the money part, because it’s all free. This year, I have received the great honor of being my team’s seeker, and I have been dreaming about snatching that gold snitch nearly every night.

Whether you’re playing, watching in the audience, or just coming for the drinks and festivities around the game, we hope it brings you joy and distracts you from the current virus of 2170
