Helmets Galore! Will the Movement Survive the Pandemic?

Solar helmets changed the world a hundred years ago. Giving pedestrians a mobile wearable facility where they could create their own free electricity to fuel their devices, all while strolling through the city. With these advanced helmets, people got an independence they had never experienced before.

Since then, these helmets have gotten more and more sophisticated, with air conditioning, screens, pop up raincoats, dorm pods. Everyone was beginning to look like “Inspector Gadget”.

The helmets did increase the growth of homeless people, turning people into self-made turtles. But it also brought about a new fashion and lifestyle for ground dwellers.

But now with the virus of 2170 on the loose, how has the been movement affected? After all, people still need to remove their helmets in a safe sanitized space in order to eat food during a pandemic. When a deadly virus is looming in the air living outdoors can become a problem.

Some of these ground dwellers found temporary sanctuary in the new Mobile Hotels. Others rented air vehicles or hitched a ride with friends on theirs. But many of the helmeteers are feeling too confined in these small pods and are running out of funds for the aerial vehicles. With few other options, they may be back on the ground fairly soon.

Companies like Hermitage, Bobers, Prettypod, and Cavehead have been reinventing their helmets for several decades. Before the pandemic they promised to bring forth their greatest designs yet, hinting to a hovering option.

Many unnamed employees have been whispering in our ear; that not only have those plans remained intact, but that they see a great opportunity in this odd new pandemic market to increase helmet sales by promoting them as filtered safety head bubbles much like the Balloon Human Walkers, which will be mashed with fashionable headwear in the spirit of Wonder Hats.

If the rumors are true we may see an influx of pedestrians hovering above the sidewalks. Will this free up space in the morning rush when all this blows over? Will these create a new traffic problem? Is it safe for pedestrians to be floating in the air without the protection of a vehicle? As always, time will tell.

For now, this might actually be the perfect time to test this new design, with the reduced traffic and people eager to get out and about. We might be seeing many new members of Tech Helmet movement floating about the empty city. This new design might change the pandemic lifestyle forever.
